Shearing
Shearing sheep at Bauchops Hill Station is an integral part of the farm's operations, showcasing the time-honored tradition of wool production in New Zealand's high country. The skilled shearers work efficiently to ensure the sheep are handled with care, while producing high-quality wool from the station's flock. This annual event reflects both the station's dedication to sustainable farming practices and its contribution to the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
Lambing
Lambing at Bauchops Hill Station takes place during October and November, marking a crucial and busy time on the farm. During these months, the station's ewes give birth to new lambs, requiring careful management to ensure the health and well-being of both the mothers and their young. The team works diligently to provide a safe environment, ensuring the lambs thrive in the early stages of life.
Winter Feed
At Bauchops Hill Station, winter feed is carefully prepared to ensure the livestock remain well-nourished during the colder months. The farm produces high-quality balage in December, storing it for feeding out when pasture growth slows in winter. This process is vital for maintaining the health and productivity of the station’s stock, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrients even when natural forage is scarce.
